This DIY Halloween frame with free printables is such an easy addition to your creepy holiday decor. And it combines so many of my favorite things and everything that’s right in the world… Halloween, the dollar store, clearance, and spray paint!
Here’s what you’ll need to make this DIY Halloween frame:
-plastic critters (bugs, bats, mice, etc.)
-black spray paint
I found my frame at one of the happiest places on earth, the clearance section at Michael’s.
I painted the frame first with a very thin, even coat of paint. To get the rustic look, I took a rag and wiped the frame while the paint was still wet. You could also sand the frame once it’s painted to make it look more distressed.
I also painted all the critters black. I think the monochromatic vibe looks so cool. It would look great with grey or brown, too, if black isn’t your first choice. Or purple! Purple would be perfect!
Once the frame and plastic bugs were all dry, I used hot glue to attach them randomly to the frame.
I love how inexpensive and simple this project is. By painting all the plastic bugs and critters all the same color it takes all the cheesiness out and makes them look super modern. That’s right people, I’ve got modern cockroaches…and centipedes. They’re probably hipsters.
This DIY Halloween frame would be perfect to display last years Halloween photos.
But, since all my photos are trapped on my phone and computer for now I’ve made some fun Halloween printables.
Am I the only person who take a million pictures and then never does anything with them? I have about 4 billion on my phone and computer. One day I’ll get around to organizing and printing them, but for now, these printables are perfect!
